1. Architectural Privacy-First Design
Ramji Weather Station operates as a client-side web application hosted on Cloudflare Pages. We do not maintain a centralized user database, tracking accounts, or server-side session logs of your queries, selected ports, or location coordinates.
2. Local Browser Storage (localStorage)
The application uses your browser's local storage exclusively to preserve non-sensitive operational preferences across visits:
- Active Port & City: To restore your preferred harbor or city dashboard on subsequent visits.
- Local Visit Counter: A simple client-side integer tracking how many times your local browser has loaded the dashboard.
- User-Supplied API Keys: If you optionally configure a personal Google Gemini API key for natural-language telemetry synthesis, it is stored solely within your local browser storage and never transmitted to our servers.
You can clear this data at any time by clearing your browser's site data or cookies.
3. Direct Upstream Network Ingestion
When you interact with the dashboard, your browser issues direct HTTPS queries to public endpoints operated by our upstream scientific data providers:
- Open-Meteo GmbH: Querying coordinates for weather, marine waves, and river floods. Subject to Open-Meteo's privacy policy.
- USGS (US Geological Survey): Querying public GeoJSON seismic feeds. Subject to US Federal Government public web policies.
- India Meteorological Department (IMD): Loading radar animation GIFs and INSAT satellite scans.
- OpenStreetMap: Fetching map tiles for the seismology interactive map.
4. Third-Party Edge Telemetry
The static hosting environment (Cloudflare Pages) may log standard edge network connection parameters (IP address, user agent, requested file path) for technical security and DDoS mitigation purposes.
5. Communications & Support
If you contact our operational desk via email or the feedback form, your provided name, email address, and message contents are utilized solely to respond to your technical inquiry or address reported data discrepancies.
